alot of vehicles dont have em, my 110 doesnt have one for instance... wouldnt worry about it.

not in my 300tdi, 3rd dial was a clock, I put a voltmeter in so i could move the clock to the centre for the missus.
I just picked up a switched live, reads the voltage.
I quite like it, its more accurate than the light on the dash, tells you how much yr charging by, and before you turn the starter if the battery is dead.
you may be able to keep it., and put a clock in the centre, where the lighter & wash wipe switch (if applicable ) is.

I aint got one, but Ive got one of these that I plug into the 12v socket from time to time, such as when I switch my heated windscreen on without the ignition..

if you fit another gauge such as boost etc, alot of them have volt meters in built (i know mine does) 2 birds with 1 stone etc.

I generally just use my nanocom but I do sometimes hook up an additional digital gauge too.

If your asking if mine is any good, then yes. I just plug it in as and when I need to. I also use one on my caravan to check how the battery is behaving whilst using the mover motor. Also allows me to check how well the battery recovers afterwards by watching how quickly the volts return to normal.

I had one of them that I used to use to test fag lighters in cars. They do come in handy to monitor battery voltages arfter a days laning on Salisbury plain. I lent mine to Mseries after he had alternator problems.
I replaced it with one of these instead ...
