Battery for 2.5 TDI

Before winter I need to get a new battery for Discovery it's an N reg (1996) 2.5 TDI what is the best one to get and any one know of good suppliers in the Greater Manchester area?

Cheers for any info.
 
If your after a standard battery then pop along to Halfords and get an 072 battery, my Lucas battery is just over 6 years old and still going strong so I think thats good.

Or you can go for a Deep Cycle ie Optima which will have thicker plates if you have a need for this type of battery but will cost about £40 more.

the above is good advise if you have money to waste

find your nearest agricultural supplier (farmers store) and buy the biggest tractor battery that will fit in your battery box and then go to the pub and drink the £60 saved

i wasnt expecting there to be one on yer doorstep, but if you can't be arsed to travel a few miles in order to save 50 to 60 quid that's down to you

if you dont think a tractor battery will fit just go to Halfords and empty yer wallet, it's your money what do i care

As Sean sed - if yu dont like the advice - yu dont have to take it - just dont slag orf those that do, at least, reply.
 
Yep I always get my batteries from our local farmers (countryside) store. They are about half the price and last just as long. Tractor batteries come in all shapes and sizes, but must of these places also sell land rover batteries because they go hand in hand with farm life.

I'd never even thought of using tractor oil / batteries etc and i'm in norfolk where we've got more tractor suppliers than you can shake a big 'airy stick at. Is the oil just as good for engine etc?

I promise any advice you give me will be taken with utmost gratitude:p:p:p
