Hi, Just wondered if anyone has had the same problem as me. Just as It has started getting cold (in NZ) I have noticed the car has taken a good three times to start which I have had before. But the next thing was a battery drain and I have noticed that my red LED for the alarm system seems to be blinking alot more than usual?. Is this a sign that the computer is not happy with something?.

Any help would be great.

Regards
Paul

Cold weather finds out duff batteries like nothing else. Get a garage to put a shunt tester on it, sounds like it may be getting weak.

Don't know maybe. I am fine mate, looking forward to next weekend hope the weather is good, will be taking some cash this time, lots of goodies to punt at (tools etc). Claw has been quiet lately, maybe Marie has reined him in.

Premier inn at Samlesbury is not a million miles away her indoors works there. Maybe a bit dear though. Look for B&Bs in Longridge on net.

Is the Tickled Trout still up your way?? Spent many a night there years ago when I used to go to Leyland Motors and B.Ae at Salmesbury.

What did you do at Samlesbury? Yeah Tickled Trout still here never thought of that about ten mins from my place.

I was involved in the Superplastic forming project for manufacturing Titanium alloy parts. Used to work for John Shaw & Sons in Salford who made the Press and tooling. It was the brainchild of B.Ae engineers and we built the machine. Also involved with Hufford and ACB Loire Stretch forming machines which made the leading edge wing sections.

No1 shed then. I was a foreman on there for longer than i care to remember. Not in one shed though. The super plastic former makes the canards for the Typhoon. The stretch former was a big piece of kit.

Yes, I seem to have 980 deg.C embedded in my brain after all those years,must have been around 1982 ish. can remember seeing (And feeling) the glow off the heated platens...handy as a back up barbeque !!
Yes the formers were a long piece of kit alright, they also had a couple in Filton. If I remember correctly, SNECMA in France were also ready for SPF system.
:focus::)

Yeah one of the lads that worked for me went on to super plastic. Walked around in a space suit all day. And yes when they opened to door it was bloody warm. Spent time over there searching for shortage bits. They made some stuff for my department. Bae had a just in time system. Which was renamed by most foremen, as the just to bloody late system.

Well i'm glad I have got you guys together for a chat, I might aswell have opened a pub rather than a thread!!.

Come on you buggers any other ideas
(it has a brand new battery)

Cheers Paul
