Does anyone know if you can charge the battery of a Series 3 via the auxiliary power sockets (red & black) from inside the vehicle?

I'm pretty sure the red and black go through one of the steering column fuses, if so then you'll probably blow it, lead acids when well down will take a lot of currect to bring back up.
Your betting doing it with a split charge relay driven off the alty charge light.

it would depend on how discharged your battery was and how big the charger is, if it was a controlled trickle charge of a few amps cant see a problem

if you connected a big charger direct to battery and it was very discharged it would draw a lot of current

however you are limited by the size of connections in the dash power sockets so would be ok

I got that totally wrong, dummy, I was thinking he's gonna charge an auxilliary battery in the landy, not the landys own battery via the banana sockets.
A 10 amp charger would probably be fine, I like the connectors the aa and rac use at the front of their vehicles for jumping other cars, you cant get them the wrong way around, and you dont need access to the vehicle.

think the OP was intending to use the tiny banana sockets on the dash (not a good plan) rather than fitting an Anderson connector (good plan)

Thanks for the comments gents.
I have a charger than you can switch between hi & low charge and so based on your thoughts having it on low should be ok.

Make sure you dont get the bananna's the wrong way round.
You can get amp conectors, or anderson connectors from a fork truck specialist.
