Someone has cut through the tray to help the earth reach the battery post.:doh::eek:

So to me it looks like the wrong battery is fitted. Am I right?? I don't like the way its been done and want to sort it out asap.

First, I'll guess its a TD5 but you really need to state WHICH Discovery you own, to avoid confusion or misleading replies....

Yep, that battery's the wrong type because it should be fitted so the terminals are towards the rear of the car, with the -ve being on the right (nearest the wing) and the +ve being on the left.

At least you didn't put the correct type of battery in the wrong way, then try to connect the -ve to +ve and +ve to -ve.....

The 'bodge' appears to actually work though, so unless you're penickity, no real need to sort it out. If you do want a new battery, you can squeeze a 334/250 in there (90Ah, 800CCA) which is a bit of an upgrade and they're something like £74.99 inc from Alpha batteries.

It's not the correct type of battery......someone just wanted to "destress" the earth lead cos in the original way it's a bit short/serried and used to brake after many handlings.......i suppose it's a V8 cos the Td5 must have had an ECM there....dont be very browned-off, this kind of battery is cheaper

Thanks for the replies.

Sorry should have said, its a V8.:(:(:(

So it looks like a trip out to get the proper battery then.

If it's already there and in good shape i'd say let it be...as i said this kind of reversed(but normal for most of other type cars) batteries are cheaper and doing the same thing.
