On top of that Jose is coming back to dial down the tune a little due to the high smoke levels, also getting an eco map for some better MPG for long distance and work.

Also spoken to a few people who used to/still race TD5s and think I will do the MAF bypass mod, I know a few advise against it but a new lid and intake pipe are cheap so its worth it to see what happens. Should be able to plug my MAF back in and have a slight reduction in smoke. However I shant do it until I speak to Jose, see what he has to say about it. Before anyone says anything the MAF limit has been raised to its max level as has the boost/MAP limit so really the only option for the time being. Also going to up the boost a little to see what results I get, currently sitting on 22psi going to try 26psi and see what I get

Couple pics a mate took

You need a winch to finish that off...LOL...Like it will ever be finished....Looking good buddy. But did you forget the A bar?

Seriously apart from the Jose paying a visit what you got planned next?

Cheers

Its very close to being finished!! I think..:oops::D

Winch is coming next month when I get paid (new job pays monthly, not weekly!)

As for the A Bar its taking some time as ive settled on the "low line" TF A bar but I have to cut it in half and have an extra 2"of steel tube welded in so it actually spans the winch tray. Cutting it square is the hard part, luckily work has a chop saw for cutting steel so just need to get down there (and beg to use it!) Then off to MCAuto to be welded up. Coated in FXLiner and bolted in (so it can be removed for easy access to the winch)

As for future plans next is having the rear windows tinted (+ VGS heated rear), new arches (front ones only have about 3 bolts holding them on!)

I did consider rear window grills for security but I feel they may be OTT and make it look too "busy"

Did find this nasty supprise after a shunt with a tree

New rear crossmember is needed :( got a quote of £720 supply OEM n fit + dinitrol. Heres hoping the chassis legs beside the fuel tank arnt rotten!

After that maybe a Buzzweld steam clean, rust cure and WAR. Make my chassis last a lil longer.

Fair bit but not a huge amount. Itll become "repair and upgrade" when things start to fail.

Ideally want full Syncro Duraspec R380 (in development), Duraspec Disco ratio TX box + LOF extreme clutch. Tad excessive maybe but should last a a damn long time + then I can really launch it :eek::eek::Do_O

That and got a few "Overland" type trips coming up over the next couple years.

Land Rover Party in Barcelona this year, Rates Billing in Portugal '19, Marqenterre '19, LRP '19 (unconfirmed), Morroco '20 (Planning subject to life ) and Croatia (me n the mrs may do this one solo, love it there and isnt actually that far)

I thought your chassis was treated when you got it. surprised to see the surface rust on it.

Cheers

Nope was bare from factory, never undersealed. It was pretty rusty but mainly surface with a little pitting but solid when I got it, had it done at CSK shortly after I bought it as a stop gap to keep it at bay while I sorted things out.

I knew the xmember was guna be an issue just thought i had a couple years more is all.

Good part about buzzweld is near enough anything bolted to the chassis is removed, the whole thing is steam cleaned etc... then sealed up. Looks brand new after and should last

Has been working hard today, 3 trips full of balast

Finished the seat risers last night, almost bang on! One hole was off by around 2mm making it a little hard to fit but it has fitted.

Gained around 1" in rear travel and 30mm in height, not 100% convinced I like the new seating position as I am now quite high but I do like the extra leg room! Even had to click it forward one notch.

Went for a square end with the blanks plus a grommet for the mounting hole.

Guna give it till Sunday and revert back see how I feel. If I dont like it ill fit the the pass side which should give more leg room in the front and more knee room in the rear.

It does feel strange to start with.

Mine goes back a lot more than that if needed. Height gain is about the same.

But you soon start to feel comfortable , unless you were comfortable to start with..LOL

Cheers

Hahaha. It wasnt bad before really, just wanted one extra click when doing long trips on the mway as ive a dodgy knee.

Tis was I was guna swap back next week see which i prefer!

Only made em as I had the box section left over and bored lol

So the MAF bypass is now fully sealed in place as far as I can tell, makes it a bit if a pain to open the airbox but worth it.

Running 24psi/1.65bar now with the MAF connected, less smoke than before too. Turbo spools up a fair bit quicker now aswell climbs right up to 24psi with ease and speed.

I did have it set at 26psi but it did start to hiccup a touch in the top end.

Power uptake is as smooth as anything. Really happy with it now!
