EP90 went in! Recommended by my local shop from the book and the auto check site thing. Ive used them for years and no problems, I went into today and asked for the book to look at myself and it indeed says ep! WTF!

After a search my brain is overloaded with no specific but soooo much info and arguments on the subject I want to hang my self.

So as it stands, I dont know exactly how badly my gearbox is damaged yet but as far as I know. ep 90 is fine for transfer box and diffs but for gearbox, ATF dexron2 BUT!!!!,,,,,, MTF 94 is recommended also but it seems to be better for the later models. For my old H reg the thinner ATF is better because of the pump!

For the record for future searching,
ASHCROFTS recommends atf dexron 2
landrover recommeded mtf94
what a **** up, going to go bold...

I think my gearbox has done roughly 80 - 100 miles with the ep **** in it. It didnt start banging straight away and when it did, it would only do it once the crap oil was hot and it was hard to track down the noise at first.

opie oils recommends mtf too btw.

if you have lt77 main gearbox then they have oil pump with fibre wheel on- I expect it has failed
