Hi Folks,

Everytime i go around a corner while driving i get a repeated bangin noise going on under the.

Well when i say noise i can here feel through the floor too.

It only happen when going forwards, everything is fine in reverse.

My first thougt was diff mounts but it appear to be coming from under where the front seats are.

Had anyone any idea what the issue is???

Thanks

David

Have you been under to have a look?
It could be drop links, roll bar bushes, wishbone bushes, ball joints lower tie rod bush loose, vcu bearings or drive shaft cv joint.
You or we wont have any idea what it is till you get underneath and give everything a good shake.
If you dont know where to find or how to check the items I've listed ,use the search this forum at the top of the main freelander page.
Happy hunting.

Just been under....

I'm thinking that the rubber around the front VCU bearing wasn;t designed with an air-gap!!!!!!

the rear one dont look much better.

They were changed October 2008....note to self.....VCU beaings only last 18month....thats pretty shoddy if you ask me!!!!!

Oh well...black ones do bankrupt there owner after all......

Be careful, i assumed my vcu bearings were gone, but it turned out the banging was caused by being in rwd only, the splines had sheared inside the final drive carrier in my gbox.

@Driod....I went under the car, could see through the rubber and could move the shaft, and bearing around inside its bracket!! :(

Had 2 new bearings and rear diff pinion oil seal changed at Doncaster Country Vehicles this moring. I'm £148 lighter but the problem is sorted.

Thanks all, once again, for your replies and advice.

Dave
