dunno im lost
av replaced all me UJs on me props and done my the input flange bearings in the diff and the fookin fing is still vibrating when acceleratin, any idea what ta check next anyone?

what a coincidence, i was gonna post a thread with that exact heading today. I've got a vibration that I'm feeling through my feet, and it's not the UJ's as well. It vibrates quite alot when lifting off between 40 and 30. Disappears when you knock the gearbox into neutral.

DOes anyone know if a gearbox bearing might be on it's way out. (or xfer box)

I destroyed my transfer box - or rather - I think what happened was a seized UJ at the box end of the front propshaft pulled the front output bearing apart. Bits of bearing worked their way back into the box and chewed it all up.

But at no time was there what I'd call vibration. Loss of front drive was first, then just odd feelings when moving off from standstill.

Not trying to teach you to suck eggs, but you did get the splines on the shafts lined up correctly?

Hope I'm not stating the obvious but when ever I get Vibration or indeed any fault I always start with the simple no cost options.

In this case check there is no mud on the inside of the wheels.
Then check wheel balance.
Bearings.
Then go on to Drive components and other spensive bits :D

Hey Ratty. Its a bit of a long shot but would knackered engine mountings give him vibration on acceleration?

Yes. so would gearbox mountings too. I woulda thought he'd hear it cracking when he first set off or feel movement in the gearstick though.

If he was to start the engine, pop the bonnet and stick someone in the car, he could get them to sling it in gear and bring their foot up on the clutch to check for any movement.

Hopefully the new uj's will allow the handbrake to hold.:p

You can stand at the side if ya want to. On the side of the motorway I prefers to be stood in front. A car at 1/2mph is definately slower than a car at 70mph.;)

I see now

Just had visions of him gettin someone to rev her up then drop the clutch, stead of fidin the bitin point genkle like.

i had a similar problem.

it was the splines........both frozen

once sorted no problems

I went over a sleeping policeman today, little bit enthusistically, and got a bit of a grinding feeling through the floor/pedals.

Is it linked? Makes it seem like my problems are prop related.
