After the engine has been running a few seconds the idle jumps up and down, settles for a few seconds if you give it a pump on the throttle, whats the cause likely to be? sometimes stops for a period of time and returns?
thanks

Hi it might be your idle control valve .It is also known as a stepper motor.I had the same problem changed it running a lot better. Two minute job to change.

The diesels don't have the idle control valve that the petrol does. Its all done electronically. I had this exact same problem after I had a new head fitted to my P38. If I remember correctly it was something to do with the timing on the FIP. Oh and a dodgy leak-off pipe was replaced.

Did you remove the FIP at all??

-Wills :)

more likely my dodgy leak off pipe. had a split, bought some new now, im going to replace it when i get back from holiday. Oh ive sent that money via paypal wills.
