ok so how much is too much ?? with the front wheels jacked up i can rotate the wheels about 8" ( around the circumference /outer edge of tyre) .
This seems a lot to me  with all wheels on the ground with the hand break applied ,you can rock the vehicle about 2" backwards/forwards.

Will there be any issues with getting an mot and how long before the diff goes bang and leaves its contents on the floor :D

cheers Mike

Dont worry too much, some of the slack is in the transfer box and gear box and prop uj's etc etc and it all adds up:)

Err yea first disco

honestlt stop fretting, the disco will soon give you something serious to do, as has been said before dont go looking for issues, they will soon crop up anyway;)

Same on mine. But as long as there's no whining noise coming from the diff then it'll be sound. If it's worrying you too much then change the oil in it. rocking a couple of inches is fine. Mine went through mot fine with that. Same as steering. The steering wheel can move 70mm before it does anything without it being a fail.

Take your mind off it and learn to weld. :)
