What does everyone use to make their external trims & bumpers look good? Is Back to Black the best "buffer" to use for the external bumper trims etc?

thanks for the really serious replies nice to know everyone is so helpful! NOT!

Finished now.

Now go outside with a hot air gun or hairdryer. Point it at the trim/bumper and see what happens. And then come back and say sorry.

Joking and banter is part of this forum. You just have to sift through it to get what you want. If you want an anorak type answer then you are in the wrong place.

Does the hair dryer/hot air gun thing have to be re-done? or is it a 1 trick solution?, think if it's recommended I'll go for the hair dryer as knowing my luck I'll melt the thing with the hot air gun!

Hi, Do a google serach for a product called Forever Black Bumper Reconditioner Dye Kit I have used it and so far so good, the bottle has enough to give it a few coats. I think it cost me £12 I dont think it's quiet forever but it does last a while.

You've got me there???? I haven't sent you anything since.

Don't worry about the dash now though thanks Sean. After taking off the rear prop I realised it was actually twisted like a cork screw. The rear diff was gone, as were the gearbox and transfer box. I take it when the oiks rolled it down the hill they used the handbrake to stop it. It wasn't worth me mucking about with so I told the insurance to come and take it away.

I have just bought a TD5 commercial station wagon to replace it. I just hope my fears of the TD5 don't come to anything.

a dunno how i missed that PM - LZ must be very smart if it knew to send me another email today knowing that i'd not seen it

maybe i really am going senile

How have you found the TD5's to work on Sean? I only deal with em occasionally (hence havinh had the 300tdi). It is only the injectors and looms I gotta worry about apart from relocating the ECU for wading int it?

i tend to avoid them as generally they need plugging into a brain before you can start to effectively diagnose - other than the engine everything else is easy ish

I have access to diagnostic computer. It's the expensive repair bills that worry me most. I am hoping that I have made the correct decision.

well it's a bit late to worry now :) - at least you have the opportunity to plug it into a brain hopefully giving you some clues as to a fault - with the 200/300s it's a case of using yer eyes and ears when something goes tits up
