back door lock

just went to get some tools out of the back of the beast and pushed the remote button the button on the back door popped up and went down again and the door is still locked what do I do now I cant even get through the back 'cos of the dog guard and the seats dont go down 'cos of the storage box

Pry the badge off the handle and then get yer fingers on the linkage.

as ratty says but also give it a good cleaning with WD40. Then spray it with liquid grease to keep it working.

Probably the spring which holds the button up has gone, so when it unlocks, the button doesn't stay up fully, which means it won;t unlock properly. Very common problem on Discovery I's. There is a sticky thread at the top of this forum explaining how to replace a spring - that's for one of the standard doors, but I believe the lock mechanism is the same. Just a different process to get at it.
