I'm altering the castor correction on my front axle, I was wondering if anyone has taken a inch or so off the diff pan to give more ground clearance?
I'm looking at flattening the bottom off. I know I'm adding a 2 inch lift, but I don't want massive tyres, I'm adding it for the angles.
I think doing this would decrease the oil amount by 200mls or so.
Any ideas on this are great, regards Steve.

Im with JM and noisy on this one.

Crown wheel clearance is your problem. There really isn't much. I know because I've put a diff in without a diff pan on when i was welding a HD jobbie on. You probably talking 5-10mm clearance if that.

So kind of seems utterly pointless to gain maybe 5mm extra clearance.

IMO If your worried about damage fit a gaurd or weld on a HD diff pan, or if your really worried about the diff clearance fit massive tyres or mog axles.

Now I have the axle fully stripped I can see how the crown wheel sits inside and the cut outs top n bottom of the ring.
So I was thinking that the wheel sits inside the ring n there was a inch below that could be removed.
Cheers for not slaughtering me lol
Regards Steve.
