Avon Ranger 265 75 16 M+S actually in snow

Bit of a noob question... and cannae see anything in "snow tyres" searches after 2015 in this thread; given all weather tyres have come on in leaps and bounds in last 2 years, and it did snow properly for first time in ages last years I thought I would bring this up, so to speak, so:

...my 110 came with 265 75 16 Avon Ranger, marked as M+S, albeit with no three peaks logo, with a decent amount of tread on them, done 5,000 summer miles and pretty happy with them as mainly be used on road, they do have slits in the tread like snow tyres but not amazing, anyone any experience of them in snow?

Is it enough that they are on a tractor?

Am doing another 3000 miles to ski resorts this winter, so do not want the foreigners laughing at the stupid Brit any more than the usual, i.e no brexit jokes as I come off the road

anyone have any good ones from last years snow? Was looking at KO2's if I needed an excuse to get some??? They look like they will do the trick (although could sound like godzilla laying skid marks on the road?)??

I had ko2s on my disco in the recent snow, they were brilliant. So I bought a set for my tratter as soon as I bought it. Can't comment on your tyres but would imagine something with the 3 peaks should perform better.
Ko2s are fine noise-wise on road, especially in a defender

I fitted super cheapo hifly at's and I'm very impressed with their road manners and in last year's snow they were brilliant.

Get some ‘mountain & snowflake’ marked tyres if you’re going to the proper white stuff. The Avon’s are fine for the short spells of snow and ice we experience here, but for prolonged periods you’ll better. As you’re probably aware, many European countries/areas require winter tyres to be fitted, the M+S stamp normally does not fulfill these requirements.

Yep, I think you are right and I ain't fitting chains to those buggers lol. Ko2s it is!

Just a word of chains. Check before you go into Europe ski resorts where the real snow is.
You may not ever need chains but some countries/areas you have to carry chains by law. So worth checking.
