Auxiliary battery where can I put it?

Has anyone fitted an auxiliary battery to their Freelander?
I've got a 2001 Td4 and want to run exterior camping lights & charging systems off a second battery.
Has anyone else done this?

Shelf arrangement. Main shelf removable. Battery and auxiliary fuse boxes / 8 relays etc all in the box on the right hand side. has a numax 88ah in it. No modifications to the vehicle interior required. I fed all the cabling through where the interior light used to be.

I would go for the gel batteries if they ever get knock over they will not leak and ruin everything with the acid

Depends what you want to run off them. Gel batteries are expensive and you cant fit a big one into the underfloor compartment. I went for the 88ah plus relays solution as I have 500W of stuff on the roof that can be on for quite a while, not necessarily concurrently.

what stuff on the roof is 500 watts

4x39w led flood on the front. 2x72w on the side. 2x48w on the rear plus .8m Lightbar and two 9w strobes on the front rail.

Ive got a slim optima battery that is going on its side in the tool compartment in the boot it fits if you remove the compartment lid and replace it with a bit of ply that spans the entire boot floor

Thanks for all the suggestions.
I found my engine battery hasn't been holding its charge so I've ordered a 76Ah 760cca replacement. Depending on how good it is I might make a shelf in the boot out of chequer plate & store an identical battery under it to run auxiliary items.

Auxiliary battery where can I put it?
