Starting a few jobs on a new FL2 I've just bought... Noticed the aux input is missing, it's just a hole where it should be.

I pulled the panel off to find a connector block with 4 cables. I suspect someone's previously installed something that used the aux input (possibly an aftermarket satnav/computer etc) and this has since been removed (just a standard cubby on the dash now).

Can anyone shed any light on the 4 cables? For audio aux I was expecting only 2, but the Haynes wiring diagram also shows 4 cables, buy doesn't detail what does what?

It's a stereo input, so it'll be live and negative for both left and right channels.
The correct socket is available, although it won't fit now the plug on the end of the cable is missing.

I imagine the 2 on the right are ground and the 2 on the left are signal. To test turn it on and touch the 2 on the left with a screwdriver (one at a time) you should hear the speakers crackle. You need to tidy the wiring up. I assume thats the previous owners.

Really struggling to identify which is which. Pretty much any combination I choose to wire up, produces sound. Sometimes from both speakers, sometimes from the left channel, but never from the right channel.

Today I'm going to do it more scientifically and record the results of every single possible combination until I get it right.

It should be 2 twisted pairs. The 2 grounds should be linked together at the head unit so with a meter check which 2 are linked and they are your grounds and so the other 2 are signals. There appears to be 2 inline connections.

It's black and white in mine.

Either way, I now have perfect stereo sound from the aux. Thank you very much!

Now onto fixing the intercooler hose leak, and the pitted rear brake disc.

For anyone else that ever needs to do this, as per Stv123's diagram - The 2 cables with predominantly blue in them, are the 2 positives for each stereo channels. The solid blue one being the Left positive, and the blue+green one being the Right positive. The other 2 cables (white+green and yellow+green) both go to the Left negative, and nothing is wired to the Right negative.
