Autobox temp following Kenlowe fan install

Hi,

I've installed a Kenlowe 17" fan on my disco 2 v8 auto. since then when in slow traffic or uphill work my oil temp light illuminates, sometimes it stays on, other times it goes off however I'm concerned either way.

I understand the principal that the viscous fan constantly cooled and now I dont have that privledge.

anyone got any ideas other than put the viscous unit back on?
 
Its working alright, just that the rad receives loads of cool air so not switching rad on much, however oil Cooler not in line of air flow really as behind the main bumper bar under grill. I think for now I am going to install the 'jet boost' switch as Kenlowe call it and use that when light comes on, with the idea of shortly buying a dedicated high efficency oil cooler when the weather warms up and I can be bothered
 
the viscous fan doesn't turn all the time. the viscous unit acts like a clutch for the fan. it's got to do with the oil in there, when it gets hot the oil turns thicker enabling it to turn. and when it gets cold it stops it.
when the engine is first started it will run for a while until it's settled down...

Just work out whether it is a pos or neg that switches on the 'overheat' light and wire in a relay, now when the light comes on it will bring the kenlowe with with it, however.................the light should not come on at all, it is possible the trans temp was running a bit hot anyway and fitting the kenlowe has highlighted a problem that was impending anyway.

Look a bit further for slipping transmission bands ect.

The viscous DOES draw air into the engine bay even when cold, this is not a great deal of air but does have the effect of preventing other parts in the engine bay (and in the area (trans cooler) getting to hot, it also ensures an air flow through the intercooler even at idle.
