right does anyone know if the 300tdi back plate will fit the 200tdi engine ??

picked all the bits up the other week, now sat here thinking to my self that the back plate wont fit and the bits are at work so i cannot look till tomorrow !

anyone ??

have you driven a 200 auto?? drive one first see how you like the mooing cow syndrome if you like it go for it but please drive one first before you do loads ofwork

my mates dad has a 300 tdi auto defender...and it is fookin awful to drive, there is just no get up and go ..when you pull away from a junction you have to rev the fook out of it to get it to go anywhere, and offroad its even worse..if ya want an auto defender i would say that nothin less than a v8 is what you need

Would agree with that - though I drove a S3/90 hybrid with a 3.5 carbed V8 (approx 130bhp?) and a ZF auto, and although it sounded awesome it still had absolutely no go, just that sensation that the torque converter is sapping up all the power and making it rev loads all the time without getting anywhere. Horrible! I don't think even the old 3.5 V8s have enough gumption to be properly drivable with an auto.

a tweaked 200 autos a thing of beuty...

i'm putting one in my 90 after the disco died.

it'll leave a manual for dead on and off road.

has to be tweeked a fair bit IMO whuch could cause reliability issues but agreed the 200 is a very understressed engine that has potential. Without mods its crap slow slugish with an auto box. Also depends what tranny box/tyre size combo aswell cos if your planning on keeping the 1.0 borg warner you'll need a fair ammount of tweeking to run a decent tyre'size.

Don't see how that's a fair comparison, a tweaked manual 200 tdi would leave your auto for dead on the road, and off road it is a matter of opinion which is 'better'.

Definatly I wouldn't say an auto is better offroad it is easier to drive off road mabe. Me, i'll be sticking to my manual Ta! I've driven a few un tweeked autos TDI's and Sheite! Described them all!
