Auto box wont change out of 1st gear

Having eventualy got my 93 vogue se running i know have devolped a gear box problem. It has been sat on the drive fpr the past 4 weeks untill i had the time to fix the ignition problem it had. i finished that this morning and the car ran like i dream. Put it into drive and set off down the road and the gearbox didnt shirt from 1st (auto). i put it in and out of N P D 1 2 3 over and over and still no joy. The box was fine before it was sat for 4 weeks. Also when i 1st put it in drive the air suspension only lifted on passanger side but rectified its self down the road ofter 30 secs or so and there is a rather large hole in the middle box of exhuast that i ahvent had chance to change yet. Would either of these to things cause the gearbpx to go into a safe mode kind of thing?????? Can anybody shed any light on my problem atall anything else that could be wrong????

This has happened to me. It turned out to be that the governor was sticking. If you have the rave manual you can read all about it. To replace it i think you have to remove the transfer box to get at it. To free it off on mine after it was standing for a while i just floored it up to 5000rpm in 1st for the weights to swing free. Its been fine ever since.

Mine did this, and it was the kick down cable that had stuck.
