hi guys ,
yesterday when first turned ignition on "stereo sounded funny" (the wifes terminology , not mine) for a few seconds then returned to normal.
then she reached her destination and turned ignition off , everything still good , however upon return and ignition switch on " stereo sounding funny " but this time not reverting to normal.
i have taken a look today and it seems that there is no amp input as all speakers have sound coming from them but sound very tinny , have checked all the bass , treble etc to see if the kids had been messing but they are fine.
if anyone has any advice on possible problem or where i might find the amp so i can check the connections it would be most appreciated.

regards Dave

There is an amp in each door, so unlikely they have all gone at once, unless they are powered from the same fuse.

Has the volume dropped to almost nothing?

Does the fault affect radio and CD sources?

volume seems to be o.k , don't know if it effects the cd as the cd will not eject , so don't use it.as regards your comment about the fuse , i will check. thanks for your advice :)

Amp in each door was the P38. L322 has the amp either up front in the cd player (basic sound system) or in the rear left below the navigation unit for the high-line sound system or DSP.

The radio/amp units are known to die (although this usually means no sound, not unamplified - check the bigblack square connector on the radio). Replacement is cheaper if you go BMW or used. Check the bay for 'bm 54'.

as of this morning the radi has given in all together , now has no sound and will not display radio/stations on screen , still got comp and sat nav , am i right in thinking that the top of the dash lifts of for access to the rear of radio unit ?
