I only suggest resetting adaptions when there is a fault. The gearbox will adapt around a clean environment, and it uses huge amounts of fuel to reset from factory settings

don’t u have to make the gearbox relearn, as i believe it can take a min of 500 x miles to do that

may i ask have u heard about the california stop and adaption software update , suppose to clear the adaption first then add this software update after replacing the atf oil

I'm not saying...Google it if you have to...and let me change the name....mistake....
The more you post using your current name, the less likely the mods will let you change it! :p but don't let that put you off, it's good fun reading your posts, even if I don't have the foggiest what your talking about :D

It is often the case that a garage will automatically reset adaptions, but if there are no faults and it is just a service, the gearbox will constantly learn. A clean environment helps as the gearbox ECU and engine ECU are linked and a clean signal often allows a lot more power especially with the smaller 2.7 engine in the Disco 3.

The 6HP26 is in the Jags, and BMW's I work with that gearbox a lot. The 8HP is newer and now the 9HP, yes 9 gears is in the transverse Landy's and Mercs.

must admit is very hard to tell when it changes gear, think it starts off in 2nd gear as i can’t feel it changing from 1st to 2nd, exceptionally smooth

didn’t realise they done a 9 speed now, is that to make the ratios closer for smoother changes plse

It is supposedly for economy. They reckon now that a new 9HP is 10% more efficient on fuel than a manual!

They are having "over-shifting" problems though and I did hear (not substantiated) that the Mercs have been programmed to use only 7 of the 9 gears.

Well, I've been busy during all of this.................getting this weekends brew in the keg.

Hand crafted real ale, brewed using the full mash method. Blonde ale, mildly bittered, with gorgeous aromas and flavours on the tongue created by the superb Fuggles hop. £9.99/pint if you fancy one :D

is that where the torque converter can’t lock as it gets confused, only had my D3 a year and has been a steep learning curve of how many sensors there are inc the mechatronic unit , blimey that’s some engineering

Most of it, but a few of the lads will pop around for one. Of my three sons only one drinks real ale. The others drink random lager :(
