I have just fitted a new head gasket to my '92 classic se vogue 3.9 efi , due to failure between no. 2 cylinder and the water duct , causing coolant loss. The parts (head gasket, 4 exhaust gaskets, rocker cover gasket , and some anti-freeze) , cost £13 from craddocks. How much do you reckon i've saved compared to having the job done at a garage ?

ballancing??

Think he means balancing combustion chambers. If its an F1 car maybe. But a little strong for a Rover V8. But it would help to fit a composite gasket instead of the silly tin things. They lower the comp ratio a little. But are a much better gasket, i cannot understand why people with head problems fit the tin ones.

Hi all .Happy to report that after three weeks , and just returned from towing the caravan 150 miles , that there has been no noticeable water loss !

Cheers, the next towing outing is the weekend after next from wolverhampton to Llyn Gwynant camp site in Snowdonia for my 50th b/day ! I am looking forward to the drive from capel curig to the site, just before Beddgelert !

A lovely campsite by the lake, just a few miles up the road from me, if you get stuck gimme a shout, I might be able to help ;)

Cheers mate . First visited that area when we went with the school to a cottage in Nantmoor about 1975 ! Then in the late 70's we used to "invade" Beddgelert on our motorcycles , and camp by the river just by what is now the Sygun mine ! Sorry if you were around there then !
