Been having banging when turning sharp bends ,so I have checked it and the actual bar moves from side to side ,surely that's not meant to be ,not like the ARB's I've come across .

It's supposed to fixed in the middle by a couple of clamps. However the clamps are made of plastic and break after a few years. A couple of worm clips, clamped round the bar, each side of the bushes will do the job of keeping the bar central.

Lol ,there's no plastic clamps on this ,I can see clamps and bushes either end of the straight length but no plastic clamps ,I should say its a 1999 xedi

That's because they have cracked and fallen off;). It's relatively common for that to happen. The bar rusts, which then swells, splitting the plastic clamps, which then just fall off. The bar is then free to slip sideways, and stike the strut, causing the bang.
My 05 SE now has a pair of worm clips keeping the bar in the middle and knock free.
