Good Day all,
OK, so my story begins many years ago, My wife always dreamt of owning an old Landy, so i bought a 1966 ex AA Series 2A, petrol Long wheel base with a safari roof.
It had an interesting past but was worse for wear, so i stripped it, and built her back up to a glorious looking example.
So off we went on her maiden voyage, (after i test drove and MOT'd her off course) Wife at the wheel, big smile on her face.. all is good in the world and the brownie points have never been so high
.... unfortunately, the smile was short lived "its a bit hard on the steering isnt it" "doesnt it go any faster" "the brakes are a bit poor" "im not that happy with no seat belt" etc etc etc....
So in the end, she loved looking at it, not so much driving it...
So i had endless hours of fun in it, living in the forest of dean at the time was perfect and no matter how hard i tried, and i tried, i couldn't get her stuck... WHAT A MACHINE (Pic of the old girl below)
Then we moved, she had to go, sad day but just couldn't keep her.
So back to the title, my wife still undeterred still wanted a land rover.
So, just bought her a cheeky little freelander TD4 on an 04 plate with 90K on the clock
Bought as a scrapper as there was a HUGE noise from engine, but after reading up about them on here, worked it out to be the famous Crankshaft pulley.
So i have changed that and all seems pretty good.
She is still rough at idle :-/ and a bit smokey when cold, will start investigating this shortly..
BUT.... the good news, the wife LOVES it !! all is good..
Anyway, just wanted to thanks to the members of this forum who have already helped me out and i havnt even asked a question yet

Now to sort the idle problem, the leak in the boot, put the propshaft back on :-\ the broken mirrors...ETC ETC ETC ETC ETC
Have a feeling this will become a labour of love...
