Wondering if anyone has experience with keeping an event vehicle not at home/at work in the open.

Probably a stupid question but I want a truck to take on a trailer for peak and dukeries ccv events, and have done for years. Just a basic swb trial truck. Nothing pretty or fancy. Preferably as unappealing as possible. I just have no space at home to keep one.

I have a outside area I'm renting next to my work units that has a padlocked gate. On a gated yard with lots of other buildings. However there have been breakins as it's close to the city centre and travellers set up recently and broke into one unit and tried to steal a van of my friends that had no brakes. I wish they did.

As I said it's probably/definitely a stupid question but are trial vehicles a target for thieves? Just a really rudimentary trialer.

I stored my racer in my warehouse yard. Was in plain view under cameras.
First few weeks stores not covered & did have quick release steering wheel.
After a few weeks covered this up & no hassles.
If it was going to be stored on a trailer put the tow hitch to the fence then load the motor. Means they cannot just hook up the trailer & drive off.

Mine will be similar with cameras and covered if I manage to get one. I have a forklift so can make it fairly blocked in with a skip and junk. Thanks for the info, I think I'll just go for it and work out overkill security/leave it in a corner blocked in. Would rather have one and do it and have it nicked than not have a go. Now it's time for towing license and eBay scouring

Have the laws changed for towing?

Check if you need a towing licence. As of December the government can't be arsed to test people for towing anymore so just give everyone is (as long as you passed before a certain time). Check online as to what you need to do, could be nothing.

Sorry, only just seen this. I passed like four years ago so can't tow ****. I was looking at testing and thought it looked like they stopped doing it altogether. I'll have a look into that. Thanks
