I'm guessing I can't be the only one, but I find the Freelander 1 seats most uncomfortable. They just seem hard and unforgiving and certainly aren't to my liking.

Has anyone swapped in any other front seats as an alternative to the factory items? The seats are completely manual with lumbar support and are heated. Retaining the heating would be nice. But open to suggestions/ideas.

I swapped the drivers seat out of my MY02 parts car as the material in my YA car was perished.

Easy swap and found very comfortable. Strangely similar to the original. ;)

(Actually I found the swap not that easy as I only changed swabs, various cuts and curses getting those friggin clips off and on).

Fitting leather facelift HSE seats to mine. Need same seat belt and anti submarine mech and floor mounts. Getting them reupholstered is the other option with a bit more foam in.

Apart from the comfort aspect the seats are fine in the Freelander. Have sat in others and never found them comfy. Was thinking maybe just leave the seat base in (its a 5 door) and just bolt a replacement seat to it and wire in the heated element to the existing switch.

I'm in the process of swapping my st'd seats out from my '98 K series to leather - heated front seats!

Ironically those are the same seats I have. I just find them hard and uncomfortable, long or short journey's. Have driven other Freelanders and the seats are miles behind any other vehicle I've owned.

I am crippled most days yet I have always found freelander ( facelift) seats to be exceptionally good
Journeys to London no problem
With one side note the 04 sport had from new had the dimple seats and when it was hot boy it it make for a sweaty drive and left little dimples imprinted on the backside and top of legs if you had shorts on

Yeh, I find the F1 seats nice and comfortable for long journeys to. Can do, for example, the 6 hour 300 mile trip to Queenstown quite happily.

That's on the 'basic' cloth covered seats. I've always fancied those dimpled seats and with the material deteriorating on mine they would be my choice to get from a breakers - maybe I'll think again!
