Here is a couple of photos of rusted chassis, didn't look to bad until poking round with a screw driver etc for MOT. It has been patched numerous times before, Looking forward to be able to post some after photos once the new chassis and some refurb has been done

Try delivery to me if you think you have it bad:(

I can only imagine:eek:, The suppliers who have the chassis in stock have added up to £800 just because there is a quite a lead time at the moment. They all more or less said it's because we have them , either that or wait 6 - 10 weeks'

Last chassis I got was a Richards and got them to send it up to Lixtoll. They charged £139 delivery to there. My mate was going that way with a trailer and collected it for me. I gave him half the ferry fare for his troubles. There was about a 6 week wait after ordering but it gave me time to strip everything down.

Spoke to Richards but a 10 week wait at moment (wouldn't mind if I could spend the time doing a lot of the hard Prep / removal etc but just had surgery for broken back so very light duties for months & months):(

Be careful about the “other company” in Ireland. If it’s impact fabrications, that’s another trading name of shielder chassis.

Cheers Mick thanks for the heads up, I 'm talking to the garage tomorrow, probably just wait on a Richards or get one through Britpart if reasonable.

That’s the issue we have, we need it quick but have to wait. I’m around 10 weeks waiting now. Hopefully it’s here this week.

Looks like I can expect mine for a Xmas pressie then. Good luck with the restoration when yours arrives, hopefully see some photos on here.

When I first started it back in April, it was intended to be a quick stripdown, respray, and rebuild with the galv bulkhead. I had my wife taking photos at every opportunity. Since the mess around with the chassis, the pace has somewhat slowed, and the photos have almost stopped. I am still taking some, but not as many as I would like. I couldn’t work out how to upload them last time I tried. The chassis may turn out to be a blessing in disguise, in that it’s allowed me to do things I didn’t intend on doing at the start.

It's worth a call to Trevor Cuthbert Land Rovers: http://trevorcuthbert.com/richardschassis/ he specialises in re-chassis work and may have some Richards Chassis in stock. It would mean a delivery charge from NI, but could be quick.

Hi zeaphod, thanks for the info, but have managed to source one from Britpart and it should arrive next Wednesday, then the fun and games will start finding all the other things that will require doing along the way.

I was always intending to do the chassis in the future, hand just been forced sooner than later. Suspension all relatively new, just dreading what will be found along the way. Bulkhead has been changed in the past and wings look like they have been done as well. Needs a door / or repair, will probably get the axels serviced, then see what needs doing mechanically. Looking forward to it.

Good to know for anyone doing a chassis change in the future. Thanks to yourself and all the other guys who have passed on lnfo on best places to get a chassis. Much appreciated, I'm sure I will be asking lots of questions as the re chassis takes place, even though being done by a L/R specialist as have asked to be informed of any parts needing replacing while body is split from chassis (probably clutch etc) Any advice always grateful

YRM are supplying mine. Their service is top notch. Personally, I won’t use anyone else for supply of parts now. If YRM sell it, I go straight to them.
