Hi all
Just picked up a 98 P38 but the roof lining from pretty much sunroof backwards (& sunroof lining has come of completely!) is hanging like a 90 year old nuns tits! Does anyone know of anyone in Hampshire, im based in Fareham that relines? Due to massive work loads I just dont have the time to do it myself unfortunately, any help? Much appreciated :)
Cheers

Hi Dave
Yeah already looked at it & the one for the pillar posts as they could do with being re-covered but just got so much on at the mo & want to get her done sooner rather than later. Do you have a contact then in my neck of the woods that maybe able to help?

Have you tried Andover Upholstery ?
They have a website Andover Upholstery - The Family Repair Service - Home
Dunno about costs tho.

Hope it helps but if not use the old friend google search

I never had a sagging problem so don't really understand it.. but why can't you just make a little hole in the lining, spray adhesive through it and press it back onto the ceiling? Does it stretch as well as come loose? I've seen examples of linings held on with drawing pins, so why not glue?

It is not the adhesive failing, it is a layer of wafer thin polystyrene foam between the fabric and tin roof.

If you spray adhesive behind the fabric more polystyrene will come loose in the form of powder. Only way is to do it is to strip it all off so there is good bonding between the tin and fabric.

Ahh that makes sense, thanks :)
Annoying there can't be such an easy fix though!

You can buy new headlinings on ebay for a couple of hundred quid if you search, some of them offer a fitting service too. I retrimmed mine myself and it was harder work than I thought it would be.

Dave just for your info mate I phoned Andover Upholstory & they dont do relines but they did put me onto a company that do based in Bournemouth called Bags of Bournemouth or something like that & ready for it guys, they charge £500 + VAT!! & quite bloody rude on the phone aswell! So if you want to reline your roof its either do it yourself or bite the bullet & buy off ebay guys

There is a company on eBay that offer a re-trim for about the £200 mark but they are in Somerset I think but will do a same day turnaround, could be a nice day out!

Exactly what I found. No choice but to to do the whole thing properly.

Extra note: Buying the material will be 90% cheaper too than new linings from eBay, downside is it will take hours, or even days, especially if you do the pillars while at it.
