Anybody else use MTF in their gearbox?

I use MTF 94 from Smith and Allan inside my LT77, decided to switch from ATF because I found the gearbox was performing poorly in the cold. There was a bit of a difference after the switch and i'd like to think it will extend the life of the box somewhat maybe? Anybody else use the stuff? did it make a difference?

I have been using atf for over a decade, 2nd gear synchro was weak ten odd years ago and it still is, change annually ish.

I've only ever used ATF in a manual box to clean out the oil grooves in the synchro rings.
Once cleaned, I'd swap back to MTF again.
I don't think ATF will do any damage, but it's a fair bit lighter than MTF, so gears might suffer increased wear, but I think this is unlikely as an auto box has gears in it too.

I put atf in my 90 earlier this year and the gear change started getting very notchy, so I put mtf in about a month ago and the gear change is a lot smoother

I did try Difflocks syn oil in my lt77 once, literally 50 miles later is was back to atf!

Yet the same oil transformed a well worn r380.

My older 300tdi had atf in it for around 18 years without any problems (apart from main shaft stripping it’s teeth) but my td5 didn’t like it at all

Same, d2 with 380 and atf terrible changes, this is when I tried difflocks syn oil and it was very good.

I just buy whatever 5 litre container of MTF 94 is cheapest on Ebay. That reminds me - I might change it again soon. I have used the Difflock Evolution equivalent in the past, one year when I was feeling particularly wealthy, but didn't notice any great difference. I have an R380 gearbox on a TD5 engine.
