Any tips for fitting front headlamp guards?

I bought a set of Freelander headlamp guards for £30 incl delivery.
Before I fit them does anyone have any tips on how I should do it? I don't want to mess up drilling the wings!!
Is there a template available to download anywhere?

Could you not make your own with cardboard?

All the fitting instructions for the oe stuff is available as a PDF. Which guards are they and what year is your motor? I may have the right ones on my puter,,,,

Guards are pre facelift, has two lugs that slot into the plastic bumper and two holes to screw into the metal wings
My car is a 2001 Td4 3dr.

easy enuff to fit I did mine only took 10 mins to do
slot the 2 locating lugs in the holes and then just hold it in the right position and drill the other 2 holes and screw on simples

I don't have any hole so on the plastic bumper, I've got to drill them!

make sure they are sitting well in the 2 holes you have to drill into the bumper at the side of the headlight, and then mark where to other 2 holes need to be drilled on the wing , or you will find they are nearly falling out of the bumper holes
also remember to change the thicker drill bit you have to use on the bumper for the smaller one ,or you will end up with a bigger hole on the wing. hope this helps

Thanks for the tips. I'm going to wait for a sunny day...if we ever get one!
Also need to look for some screws to secure it into the wing as they didn't arrive with any.

Best to try get the original fittings as they have a rubber spacer that stops the actual guard pressing against the wing, stop the gaurd scratching the wing,

I managed to find a freelander in a scap yard that had them, the PDF download shows what they look like

Think I'll use a long security bolt & bit y own rubber spacers.
I don't fancy walking back to the car & finding someone liked the guards so much they unscrewed them & left!!!!

I guessed and drilled the holes & secured them using black silicone, self tapping screws & toilet seat fixing nuts, the advantages of being a plumber!

Think they turned out ok.
