basically i've bought my first land rover :D a 1975 3 series which has been sat on a farm for 2 years and not moved , im having an annoying engine problem (see thread below) its been towed to my driveway where it now sits and i have no money and no mechanical knowledge at all and no idea how to fix it

http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f6/1975-series-3-88-2-25-diesel-engine-problems-77081.html

so im wondering if there is any kind lovely people in the corby / northants area who wouldnt mind offering a bit of help / knowlege to a first time owner

im super broke at the moment so i cant pay anyone but i will happily supply unlimited amounts of tea / coffee and chocolate biscuits and maybe a 4 pack of beer to anyone who is willing to come and help me get my soon to be super beast fixed

thank you

No money and no mechanical knowledge is what I'd call starting at the bottom rung of the ladder with a 35 year old landy that hasn't been on the road for years. Good luck.

There's loads of info and help here and on other forums. Do some reading and just get stuck in. Old land rovers are easy to work on so great for learning and the satisfaction you'll get when you finally get to drive it will be immense. You will probably have to find a bit of money from somewhere along the way though:D

i bought it as a project so i'll be doing it slowly over a few months i just need to get the engine running properly to let me know she's worth fighing for . the chassis is near perfect condition , body work needs a lot of tlc but i dont want to start ripping it to peices only to find out in a few months down the line its ready to go but still sitting there with an engine that dont work :(

oh well , i may brave having a look at it myself , im just scared of killing it completely cos the haynes manuals are not exaclty easy to understand from a novice's point of view

wish me luck
