Hi guys ive just bought a series 2a this is my first landrover project and therefore only have a little knowledge i have been dieing to get stuck in and get started but with further inspection it has resulted in having to replace the chassis. I have looked at a few all ready, but does anyone know if its its possible to buy a new chassis which alreadys comes with new fitted leaf springs and bushes, also i have herd some people talking about buying a series 3 chassis because the are cheaper and are exactly the same, is this true?

cheers

Looks like Richards are the only series chassis manufacturer - the S2 and S3 are different and the S2 clutch slave cylinder won't clear the S3 chassis. Fitting the springs and bushes is pretty easy and I'm not sure how you would fit the axles with the springs in situ - I'm not sure there's enough clearance.

get the series 3 chassis ,slave cylinder not clearing is bollocks chassis normally come with bushes but not springs ,remember threads in chassis will need cleaning with tap for steering relay top and bottom (whitworth) only get galv chassis ,holes for bolts may need a drill put through, fit new streeing relay only about £30 old one will never come out dont tigthen any body work until all fitted and door gaps sorted, dont tigthen suspension bolts till completed
