Hi guys,

I am the proud new owner of a '99 V reg 4l V8 Disco (which I swapped for my 300tdi 90). Its great, and makes a nice rumble but as much as I love the sound of a big V8, I would like to get the radio going. I tried holding the volume knob in for 20 seconds and have checked th fuse under the steering collumn... Any other suggestions?

D2 standard radios don't need a code, they hold the number in flash memory.

The knob is pushed once to turn on, ASSUMING you have a standard head unit.

Fuse 16 is the radio feed. C0361-1 is the ground/earth point. Have a look under the dashboard, it's on the unpainted steel brace for the steering column.

If you have anything else, you're on your own,

1. Can you pop the unit out? If the fuse looks ok maybe the power cable has come loose to the back of the unit.

2. Take a pic of the unit and post it. If it's an original or replacement unit it could be a different problem.

3. :welcome:

Which "standard" would that be? Alpine, Visteon or Becker? :)

Mine is an Alpine head with the double-Din panel. That one has definitely never needed the code, I don't have it anyway.

As far as I know, the rest of the range are the same, but you'd need to read the ICE Handbook that comes with the car, if you haven't got that, check online having first identified which head unit you have.

Cheers guys, its the standard radio and amazingly enough the fuse diagram was still there so found the fuse was number 16. It's doing absolutely nothing... Zilcho... Nada! I have yet to get it on at all before I find out if I need the code... It was much simpler just wiring in a radio in the 90!

Mine's a Becker SatNav unit, and it definitely needs a code.

If you need or don't need the code it's there. It is an option and is activated by the dealer when the new vehicle purchased, if the customer requests it... and I didn't request the activation either.
I have a nice Pioneer 'face off' system fitted now, a hundred times better than the Philips kit before :)

Thanks again guys... No manual :( and no radio removal keys either so will have to obtain some or some filing cabinet file arms... I will neeed to check he supply cable on the back first and the fuse if there is one. I'd love a new radio!

This is the unit I have in mine, with the CD cassette under the driver's seat. A mate of mine thinks I have the "hi-line" stereo. Tweaters in the A pillars and. Sub woofer in the rear door? Would this be right? Either way, the sound is fantastic and I really like the originality of the unit.

Hi guys! Got it going! Lead wasn't in right on the back! Thanks! And yes mine has the cd changer under the Driverseat and sub in the back doora also just gave it a good scrub:) so it looks lovely
