The new Hawkeye version 7 software has fixed a number of faults in the auto gearbox menu. Video's of the updated software added to this fred. They have also added new Freelander 1 features.

Any Hawkeye owners wiff an auto gearbox Freelander 1?

Am looking fer someone to do some simple tests on an auto gearbox Freelander 1, wiff a Hawkeye unit, to compare to ma hippo. All works fine and a resistance check on the auto gearbox electrical barrel connectors has proved me solenoids, sensors un gear selection read correctly. Next step is ta see if someone else can confirm what reading they gets on their Freelander 1, fer eggsample:

Engine up to working temp and on tick over, stationary, gearbox in park.

What does yer see for the following options wiffin the menu:

Freelander 1 / Transmission / Jatco FPO / Live Data (using software 4.0.0 or above)

Shift solenoid A:
Shift solenoid B:
Shift solenoid C:
AFT temp: wiff and wiffout yer foot on the foot brake (just fer a laugh)

Am not going mad. :frusty:

Would prefer a v6 as a direct comparison, but a td4 auto should do the same I hope. Any td4 auto owners out there with a Hawkeye they could use to read back the above auto gear box info?

Looks like the new v5 software has programming included.

not many of us with hawkeye really, might be worth offering a free hook up to anyone localish.. ;)

The Hawkeye is vehicle specific so unless someone has paid an extra £1000 it won't work
It will. Hawkeye activation is based on the serial number of the Hawkeye and the model you choose. My choice was Freelander 1. That means it will work on all Freelander 1's. But not a Freelander 2, D3 or any other model. But if I buy another license activation and choose another model, then that will work too.

Ah right - I thought it was tied to the actual vehicle - I did wonder how they did that but just thought that your Vin may have been the activation code and it was linked to the ECU

There are some other units on the market which do as you say: lock to the vin of your car. They seem to do more, or so they say. I spoke to one of these some years ago and was quoted £450+vat at the time. Didin't bother with it as it just seemed to clinical a transaction when buying. No info, no product chat (other than usual sales crap) = no confidence = no sale.

just got my hawkeye for my freelander TD4 Auto and disco 2. Will try and get the readings for you 2morra and post them. After i have taken the good lady shopping

Thanks for the offer. That's great. Was beginning to think I was the only fool, shorry, Freelander owner who'd bought a Hawkeye.

I've got some video's of mine for comparison. The options I put up above are just an eggsample of some of the items that display non sensical readings on my Hawkeye with a 2001 v6. Betterer known as errors. Or at least I'm hoping it's errors. Kind of a worry when it tells you you have a misfire on cylinder 12. Would be nice if you could make a note of what it says for all the Jatco auto readings. The Jatco live data bit.

If your tempted to look at the display of the Hawkeye whilst your Freelanders at 60mph, make sure someone else is driving. The shock of what I saw well it's enough to cause major distress to a Freelander owner.

Greetings Hippo NOW!!!!
SOL A = Ignition
SOL B = Bonnet
SOL C = Press Each Transmit
AFT TEMP NO BRAKE = Normal
AFT TEMP WITH BRAKE = Drivers Door
RDCN Timing Sol = Cyl 12 Misfire
Rather strange, will try and film full test on gearbox as some very strange readings whilst moving

Mine lists the same descriptions as yours. In a way I'm glad as it proves I'm not going mad. But a shame to find someone else with problems. Although if your Freelander drives ok like mine does, then it does make you wonder I was thinking it may be the v6 autos only that had problems, but if you have the same info on the td4 auto then that's too much of a coincidence, for something else to be wrong.

My Temp is reading normal too. Does your engine temp go past 145+ degrees then drop to 45 degrees? Mine does. Especially when driving at 60mph, then pulling over in a lay-by and watching the engine temp display creep up, in the auto live data section. The engine live data seems to give a correct reading whilst this happens. My Hawkeye is running v5 software, but the same descriptions came up when it was on v4.

I have a video of mine already, but I won't put it up just yet. In the interests of fairness it's better for someone to confirm the description they have, prior to me listing mine, as a potential problem reading. Even though they may be the same, it's a better judgement as anyone could just say snap mine does that too. I have been talking with the product owner over these issues. I can only confirm that my problems have persisted. It's a shame really as the live data section of the Hawkeye's menu's is the bit that made me want to buy one.

Can I also make a request to the tratter boys that this thread says on topic, without any banter, as I may invite the product owner to view this thread as part of my discussion with them regarding the problems I have.

Hi. Thanks for the video's.

Pictures fine as a I can see what I need. Seems you've got a simular fault status to mine. Gear lever faulty, ignition off when you can clearly hear the engine ticking over in the back ground. Will compare it with mine and put up the video's I have of my v6 auto live data.

Had the chance to plug my hawkeye into an L series diesel today. Didn't spend long with it, but what I did see was confusing.
