Good morning everyone, my name is adrien i'm from france and i'm and happy owner of a freelander 1 TD4 hse with 260k km.
When i bought it few months ago i bought it with a shifting issue, i own an auto one with the jatco gearbox. My problem is when driving i experience a shift delay between the 3rd and 4th gear, the rpm tends to increase without shifting directly, for now i think its maybe a solenoid but not sure and cant find anyone near my area with the T4 testbook, i wrote my problem on some facebook group and some told me i may just need an oil service of the gearbox because other had this issue.
From what i understood this is the steps to do it, if i'm wrong any advice will be welcome
First start the engine and let it warm the gearbox between 35 and 45 degres
Put the gearbox in all positions P R N D 4 2 1
Once arrived at temperature unbolt the oil level screw and wait for it to leak a bit of oil, if not leaking add a bit of oil from the top and move position P R N D 4 2 1
Once the leak is weak or stop you can screw the bolt of the oil level.
Open the drain service plug of the gearbox and collect oil and move P R N D 4 2 1
About 4L should come off the drain plug
When its not leaking anymore screw the bolt
From now fill the box with new fluid from the top and put the exact amount who came out and move it P R N D 4 2 1 to make sure the oil goes into all the gearbox
Once finished put back the little cap on the top filler and job should be done
my questions are about the motor running, should it run the whole process or i can turn off at certain time ?
can i take the temperature on the under oil pan of the gearbox ?
Thanks you for your attention and help
