ANR1534, Tyre sizes.

Hello all. Been a while..
I was very kindly treated to a set of ANR1534’s for my 30th last week. They’ll be going on the 2a as soon as I get the tyres sorted. The truck is on parabolic springs so sits a little higher than standard. It’s currently on lwb rims with 750s.

Tricky to photograph but with the offset the edge of the rim is about 1” under being flush with the bodywork.

Can anyone recommend a tyre from experience with these wheels?

Lucky you, Recon they are what we call FC or Forward control rims because they were originally on Series 2b Forward control Land Rovers and for that reason hard to find. You can fit your 7.50's on them which is what most did back in the day. On the FC 900x16 were fitted, not suitable for standard series.

Another vote here for a set of 7.50s, that would be my preference on any series vehicle.

Rangemaster tyres. That's what I intend to put on my FC rims. When I get to that stage. .

Cheers for the replies. I believe they are very similar to FC wheels but were actually fitted to the snatch and rapier 110/130 defenders? Don’t remember where I heard that though so don’t quote me. 750’s will probably be the way then.. I did fancy something a little bigger. May sound silly but are there any 750’s the are ‘bigger’ than others? I’ve some old (no good) Michelin xzl tyres that stand taller than say, the Firestone I’ve got on another wheel. Is the next tubed size up a 900? Nowt in between? Thanks

There is no doubt that some makes of tire of the same printed size are taller than others.

There's are 8.00 16 c tyres I believe, but they are cross ply and low speed rated, a trailer tyre. Next would be the 255/100R16 XZL Michelin. Quite expensive. Remolds be £300.

So the 800’s wouldn’t be much cop then?
Are the 255100/16 Michelin’s ok with a tube?

255 wide are going to give you very heavy steering on a Series.

You shouldn't really use tubed tyres on tubeless rims, although some seem to get away with it.

I think a 235/85 R 16 would be fine. Depends on use. The rangemaster is good for general work, road, towing, green laning.

If you want bigger, get a disco 2 with a lift and a beacon, light bar and snorkel.
