Found out today my 2001 Freelander V6 is not worth repairing.
Exhaust gases found in water, c head pressure checked OK, so would appear bottom engine problem. 93k miles serviced regurlarly and owned from new. Not the first or so it would seem the last- expensive lesson.

KV6 failures - poor engine design causing cavitation and localised boiling - Poor cooling of rear bank of "V" - poor cooling system design - water temp monitoring on inlet to block from rad (after cooling) - poor head gasket design (K series) - poor liner positioning.

yu want me to go on?

I thought the head gasket on the v6 was stainless steel. Much better than the k series 1.8 HG?

Definately, head gasket OK, Cilinder heads have been pressure tested and OK. Advise from ex LR mech, call it a day and sell.
It was just a shock, considering 1 carefull owner, me, serviced regurlarly and coud'nt make 100k miles.

Starting bid £50 squid got to be worth ago! Not sure on the 2001 only 20K miles!

Not sure what a local garage would charge to drop it in.

We were charged 10 hours labour to remove a v6, take the enigne off the gearbox and fit a new engine to the gearbox, then drop it all in the Freelander again.

Putting a different engine will cause problems with the computer. Also the td4 auto uses different gear ratios in the auto, so thats not an easy swop for a v6 engine either.
