Morning guys

This question is more aimed at anyone who has upgraded the speakers in a freelander.

I have found a spare set if alpine speakers which after reading other posts is fine depth wise. Also I believe they are 17cm which should fit the door.

My real question is the speakers I have are mid range ones which I thought would be ideal as there are tweeters in the pillars. But what you put in the back doors? Mid range again or 2 ways as there are no tweeters in the back.

Cheers

yes you are limited in depth, very limited in the front especially due to the window.

i changed all four of mine.

check out my thread, shows pics of the install, there from halfords and are 10 times better than the more expensive JBL ones they do.

I changed all of mine, and disconnected the front tweeters as there ****e ! and the new speakers are full range anyway.

so much clearer than the old tat !

and louder ! just that my doors rattle to bits now ! :p:p:p

he's put a link to the thread...there are pics and descriptions in there

Yeah but the thread is 50 pages long, i'm not reading all of those for the sake of a simple answer to which speakers he fitted! It would have been easier to type the speakers than the link to the thread!

linked the thread as i thought it would be of more help as it shows the installation process.

i bought mine from halfords

Fitted 4 of these

Halfords | FLI FI6 6" (16cm) 3 Way Coaxial Speakers

full range speakers

Then disconnected the two front tweeters as there ****e ! they cant take the same power as the new speakers so no point using them as my head unit would burn them out.

sounds much better than before.

as the two rear origianal LR speakers were only mid range, so if you were sitting in the back seats the sound would be crap !

now sounds brilliant :D:D:D

 so open the thread then hit the search button and type speakers...easy really..or just buy a set of speakers and keep taking them back til ya get a set that fits...jeez....

I found that the 2 speakers in the back doors were aftermarket so I swapped them to the front as 2.0 hippo said the front ones are naff.

The window was getting stuck on the speakers so I put small blocks of wood between the speaker and door and it raised them enough so that the window could go down.

I fitted Mr Hippos recommendation to the front of my 3 door, great sound and Halfords offered discount on their website to reserve and collect!

Has anyone fitted replacements to the rear of a 3 door as this is one of my other projects. I have a nice set of Alpine 6x9 which are wasted sat in the garage!
