Cool cheers for the help gota find some cash now, cheapest i found was £250 for an exchange recond v/c. Another quick question maybe silly but i had a navara previously and when that was in 4wd turning in a tight circle would make alont of tyre noise and it would struggle. This isnt happening with the disco, could this mean its not seized?

not necessarily ,dont know about navara but lr use center differential so you can use 4wd at all times ,unlike some were 2wd is for road conditions and lsd rear axles etc,vc acts as a diff lock for center diff and should only lock as a wheel spins etc , if they do seize its not allways noticeable

Excellent is there a way of telling if a second hand one is in good working order? and do you recomend anywere to get a replacement?

second hand are likely to be seized hence not in the t/box, you can test one in a box by locking rear flange and seeing if front turns with slow pull , you can test them in a vice by holding one set of splines and turning others using torque wrench but it means making some tooling up ,ashcroft transmissions used to sell them
