right got hold of another obd2 socket and have stripped wires back from the original and attached the other one still cant seem to get this thing to sync and get ffs in recieve box!
comm port 4 on laptop comm port 4 on eas suite triple checked cleaned all new obd2 port as well earlier with switch cleaner and small screw driver plugged it in and out 40 times before hand also

any more ideas? again when plugged in and playing it lifted but still can sync or read and clear faults!!

also im using a serial to usb adapter as i have no serial port new laptop and i have verified the correct driver for it and installed it succesfully uninstalled installed sevral times also to make sure wasint that

yes i run vista

will this matter?

Could do...

Some people at work have to use a usb/serial lead, under Vista sometimes the lead doesn't seem to work with the supplied software.

The way we've managed to make them work, is as follows:

Unloading the driver for the lead.

Search for the adaptor lead driver folder and delete.

Suggest you unload EAS Software ( have had to do this with the works software at times might be the way its setup? May not be required with EAS program)

Restart the laptop plug in the usb/serial lead once Vista shows a new device, go via control panel>system>hardware manger>usb> highlight the Usb/Serial lead and update driver from vista o/s downloads, do not use the supplied drivers.

Reload EAS Software.

Don't know if Vista gets confused or the supplied drivers are the problem.

Doesn't seem to be a problem under XP.

I'm fairly sure its not the EAS software, but the way Vista installs the driver for the adaptor lead, my brother in law spent hours trying to get his usb/serial lead to work, make sure the system manager sees the usb/serial lead before installing the EAS program.
