OMG...
SomeJoker has registered on LandyZone and he's not even got a land rover ;)

He'll be getting one soon though and may therefore need to ask for some assistance at some point in the future

welcome to the asylum

what landy have u been looking for

u will find the forum such an enormous amount of info

We need a vehicle with occasional 7 seats after another addition to the family.

It's most likely going to be a disco 2. Just have to decide whether it's worth spending extra for the comforts. It might be taken off road at some point but it'll not be for while.

there's always the D3 , but of course i'm biased, lol

7 x seater, plenty of comfort, loads of room, capable off road:D:D

plenty around now

If we could wait another year before getting one then we'd be able to afford a half decent one.

I didn't really fancy paying 515 a year for road tax either and there aren't many pre tax changes, only 2005 models I think.

Aren't they also a bit more thirsty?

We have been looking around and have noticed some not particularly good vehicles, mostly been minor things but not only.

I was advised also to check the bottom end of the hand brake cable coming out of the diff to make sure there isn't an excessive amount of thread visible, is this the case on d2's or am I confusing it with the 1's? Hand brake locking the centre diff.

I know there isn't a huge amount of luggage space with the extra seats up in the boot but it's only for when we have visitors, rather than going out in two cars.

Hi,

As long as the HB works then I would not worry about it too much, it is not difficult to the change the cable / adjust if needed.
Biggest concern on the D2 that is easy to check and verify is the chassis, rear third is very prone to rotting away, but do check all of it.
Then general car checks, especially for headgasket, coolant issues. Starting problems from Cold and also when hot.
As per the list check the lights on start up, it is not unknown for some naughty peeps to cover up warning bulbs .

Cheers

ur looking around 22mpg around town and 32mpg motorway

I was also told about oil migration down to the ecu, but not being familiar with the engine bay I wasn't entirely sure where I should be looking for that. Would anyone know of a thread I could look at?

Thanks buddy, wasn't sure how easy it was going to be. Looks like just a two minute check while seeing if the jack is present :)

Happy days

Just wondering what style wheel this is and the size of rubber normally fitted if anyone knows.
