I was looking at the Steve Parker web site, on there in the list of conversion kits for 200tdi Disco into Defender, they have a set of Flywheel Housing Bolts.
Steve Parker Land Rover Spare Parts, Land Rover Accessories, Exhausts, Suspension

According to their information these are required to replace the original bolts because they are covered up.

On all the write-ups I've read about doing a 200tdi Disco conversion, I've never come across any mention of having to change these bolts. So, is this required to be done or not?:confused2:

Cheers, Rehgar.

I've completed the swap from a 2.5N/A to 200TDI and never had an issue with flywheel housing bolts. All i did was fit a new disco 200tdi clutch kit and mated it up to the lt77 gearbox. The ony other item i purchased was the Steve Parker down pipe exhaust.(had donor disco complete at the time) I'ts been in over a year now and it was well worth it.:biggrin1:

I second what Matt says.

Also, you can just take the flywheel housing with the gearbox, they are interchangable.

Steve Parker WILL tell you that: he want's to sell kits.

If I remember correctly there is like 1 stud that doesn't get used; which is normal they often have extras so there are more mounting options for other engine/gearbox combinations.

:)Thanks for the comments, it feels better hearing other peeps experiences.

I'm doing a 200tdi into a 2.5TD, and planning on swapping over the flywheel housings to get the best match on bolts and studs.

The one thing I think will cause the biggest headache, is going to be the air intake set-up. I've seen so many variations of where to fit the air intake, it's going to be a suck it, and see session.:D

I am going to swap my 2.5N/A with A Def 200TDI. will I need the same bits, I have a LT77 gearbox.

It's just the turbo mounting is different on the Disco engine, and won't fit in the defender engine bay without either, splitting the turbo and turning the two halfs, or modifying footwell or downpipe.

iv just fitted a 200tdi to my s3 and i fitted these bolts as id read some were but i got mine from my local Engineers' Supplies for £3 not £12 and the spare stud i removed theres a hole in the middle at the bottom of the engine i taped it out and fitted the spare stud there because theres no bolts in the bottom 1/4 of the box to the engine.

When we did my 90 we countersunk/set in a few of the bottom M10 bolts so that the clutch/flywheel housing was mated to the engine securly. Some people leave these bolts out as the gearbox bell housing covers them up but that not best practice. I have some pics somewhere on ere I'll post them when I can get to them. Also I never changed my bulkhead or turbo from disco stock. It does however require you to relocate the clutch pipes well away from the exhaust/bulkhead where they currently run and we were left with approx 20mm gap. Ideally Yes you should play with the turbo mount but I felt that it wasn't nessasary at the time. Jai
