I have that cb.

I don't know if yours will come with the channel changer on top of the mic but if it does it's a right pain in the ass.

Other than that it does what I need it too :)

Good price too ;)

61" or 34"??

What's it gonna be used for, greenlaning? then the shorter aerial would suffice. The longer aerials tend to bounce about a lot and more chance of damage when height restriction crop's up ... and the noise of it banging against the roof will annoy the heck outta you.

Why do you need a couple of miles range when yu are likely to be within a hundred yards of all the other vehicles? That just means yu might be picking up other groups.

gain is what you want, more gain the more it will amplify output
mine 5.5 db gain

Nope.

You want the cable as short as possible, though with the short lengths involved it doesn't matter much. As long as the aerial is outside and the CB is inside there wont be a problem.

However, where you put your aerial will make a big difference. The ideal place is dead center of a big flat metallic sheet - ie the roof :)

Yep - best place for aerial - not best place for keeping an aerial undamaged ;)

For green laning, prob best aerial is a 'rubber duck' off a handheld - good for a mile or so, and fairly immune to being smacked by branches.

Then, of course, you need thick skin for all the abuse you'll get from people telling you you need a big 3 million foot long aerial to get good communication with the car 15' in front ;)

If you really want a protected aerial, you could run a wire up the back of your snorkel*.

Good enough for laning, and 'stealth' enough to not have to take it off and hide it every time you park.

* Obviously you'd need to know what your doing to get the matching etc right if you did make it yourself out of wire.

similar principal to the di-pole that ised to be chucked over the roof on houses? personally used an old avanti moonraker with a spring loaded whip...worked great and cost nowt, it was on the front bumper on an old dv27 mount then we had the springer on the roof in a hole alredy drilled by previous owner, was ok but annoying as hell when going under low trees..
