recomend me a budget CB

looking to get a CB at the end of this month. been looking at a few and found a decent looking and priced one: Package Deals & Starter Packs - 4x4 Packages - BasicPLUS Offroader : 4x4 - TTi TCB-660 Package Deal

looking for around the £75 posted, for the whole deal(radio, aerial and mount)

also whats the best aerial mount for a defender 90? magnetic or gutter mount?

I got a moonraker Minor, 49 quid. plus antenna and mount = 65 quid the lot. That link int working for me atm but I'm gonna just assume than its better than the minor, which is a decent rig but just doesn't have any features. So I'd go for that as it sounds like you're getting an ok deal.

As for mounts, it depends on what you want the CB for, using a mag mount slap bang in the middle of the roof will give you a good groundplane, and better distance, but a gutter mount seems to be par for greenlaners.

AHHH things are becoming clearer lol. Do you go to college with him? If its the one he's got then I'd get it over mine any day. The search function is dead good. But then if you only use it greenlaning or overlanding then you only use one channel and dont need much distance. Me and him both have mag mounts on the roof and both have different sized stinger antennas, I don't think hes taken his laning yet to find out if the mount gets pulled off by trees lol. but most landies I've seen have got gutter mounts. I'm gonna keep my mag mount when I get my landy, prolly mount it on the bonnet so it's lower.

dont go to college with him, met him a few times through another forum(shooting related). and speak to him alot on MSN etc.

ideal, sounds like the CB for me. i was consider the mag mount due to the better signal strength etc, but the gutter mount seems alot stronger etc.

have a look at Maplins - they do one fur about £45.

oh - an if yu dont wanna loose it - go fur a body mount fitted to the back of the body. - Some of our trees will take off anything roof mounted. mind yu - i spose a mag one could be bumper mounted temperarily.

Ahh right I saw what you did at college and assumed you went with him. yeah though what daft says is true, bumper mounts look good and they are right out of the way.

i have the standard defender bumper, will this be oke ot mount the CB aerial on?

i wud think so - but as i aint gorra deepender - i int sure - if yu wanna be sure - go fur a body mount.
