Defender Puma 7k miles and less than 6 months old has an annoying rattle that sounds like its coming from behind the passenger side dash or door post area.

It sounds like something fabricated thats not secured properly and rattles when you get any vibration e.g when you are in too high a gear.

Before i start dismantling the dash is there anything obvious behind the passenger side dash that it could be?

Ideas appreciated !

Could be the bonnet hinge bush
Either pack a cloth under bonnet to wing to reduce movement or better still lift bonnet and with help it just lifts off the car
Try a short drive to see if it's gone
If it's gone or not visit the dealer it's a warranty issue
I've also known the ecu mount point to be responsible for rattles the bracket might need a tweak

Thanks for those suggestions will take a look this weekend....I will be raising it with the dealer when it goes in for the 1st annual service.

Definitely not the Bonnet hinge screws...all nice and tight. May just get the dealer to have a look at it under warranty...that's why I bought a new one !

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Hmmm main dealer , "no fault found sir" be sure to explain it when dropping it off, the info between reception and workshop is a lost in translation thing, I've heard of such issues and the techs looking for the wrong thing

Your right...it's a Defender ... they rattle... ! :)

Not too worried...it's just seems to be getting worse an something may drop off at some point! ...at least I'll now what it is then !

I'll just turn up the Radio for now :)

If I ever get to the bottom of it I'll let you know...
