I joined this forum a few months ago, in order to learn about the car of my dreams, and you all helped a great deal, so...

I now have bought a 2000 Range Rover 2.5 DSE, which should be ready for me to collect this weekend.

Never having driven one before, I had the guy laughing, when I sat inside, and pushed buttons, which I knew nothing about, and then found the car going up and down....:D what an idiot! but at least I know now how the suspension works...

I could just hear him thinking... bloomin woman !

hello petbe,welcome to the rr p38 madhouse,looks like you,ve got yourself a beauty there,i,ve owned my 2.5dse for 4 months and despite the issues i,ve had(quite a few)i love mine.one thing is if everything is working-DON,T TOUCH ANYTHING:).best of luck
 
Best of luck with it, it looks very clean and un-molested.

Its got unusual wheels for a 2000, look like its had 16" rims from a Discovery or end of line RRC put on it. Not a bad thing as it will cope far better with potholes on 16" rims.

Welcome to the fold and njoy ownership. Its an affliction :)
 
Same age as mine, looks nice. Have a look at the airbags before they let you down. Mine were shot at 92K miles, if left they will shag the compressor. Oh and get yourself the free EAS software if you have a laptop, or an EAS Kicker.

They are really great cars if well maintained, good luck and :welcome2:

I have told the garage, they will have to give me lessons before trusting me to drive her home...:D

You know many people laugh at me for this, but when you find the right car, it almost screams out at you, and its the beginning of a love affair..

I have been looking for the right car for some months, and thought I had found it with a 2004 TD6, but when I sat inside, I just felt ' out of my depth' it just didnt feel right for me, so I almost gave up and decided on an X5 instead, but after having one last scour of the net, I found this one, and it was love at first sight.

I was thinking of getting new alloys for her, as the ones fitted are a bit ropey.. having been spray painted. So you think I should go for 16" ? I was thinking of 18 or 19" but if 16's are right, then 16" it will be.
 
I've just put 16's on mine as I work on a farm and use it off road a lot and with 16's I got a bigger range of affordable tyres. The 18's I took off look better though.
 
whats really needed is a nice set of 18,s off a range rover vogue 2007.and it just so happens:) i have set which are surplus to requirements.send us a pm if interested.cheers
 
hahaha... By the time I collect the car, I wont have any money left to buy anything for a week or two..:)

I need a dog guard first, then I want bluetooth fitted, and wheels.. and so the list goes on and on..

Basically, I want to make her as beautiful as possible, as well as fit for purpose.

I'm disabled and have problems getting in and out of most vehicles, hence I wanted a 'higher' vehicle, and my Rangie, offers that with the ultimate comfort.. what more can anyone ask..

The local garage I bought her from are happy to maintain her and keep her in good nik, so, I'm on top of the world right now..:cheer2:
 
Original 18" Mondials are the best looking wheels IMHO.

Anything bigger starts to compromise ride and utility.

Like most who take theirs off road I'm on 16's. I do like those Modials though :)

I'm on 19' 2007 Sport alloys ... To compare YOURS with MINE see attached BUT............ As your disabled you may want to stick with the 16's (Alot easier access for you)

Surely your 19" wheels have low profile tyres to give the same rolling radius as 16" or 18" wheels and therefore the same access height? If not you speedo will be under reading:eek:
 
I'm with data on this one increasing the diameter of the wheel, increases the circumference, therefore you travel a greater distance for the same revolution - therefore the bigger the wheels the faster you go....

So putting on JCB wheels....
 
She passed her MOT today with flying colours, so I should be able to pick her up on Saturday... cant wait !

I have spent today picking out all the things I want for her, once I have money again...lol

Im going to be spoiled for choice for a few months, as I will still have my Motability Lease vehicle till September as well as the Rangie. I cant hand it back till the contract is up.

Having a brand new car every three years with worry free cost motoring sounds appealing, but trust me, its not. Its not your car, so you have to be careful that it doesnt get scratched or marked in any way or you have to pay.

Hence I wanted a car of my own again, you cant love a lease car..

My wife has a Mobitity car ...... I have TRIED to explain to her ... shes paying £199 per month for that thing & at the end of 3 years all shes got is a BIG SPACE on the drive & is outta pocket by £7164.....

OUTRAGIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
