Evening all,
Just got back from an amazing weekend at Billing and took my Hippo off road properly for the first time, and how good was she! Didn't see any other dirty ones.....however I now have a few issues, probably because I sat in the bog with slurry up to the headlights for about 5 mins.
First up is the alternator, light is permenantly on, on the dash. Battery is about 12.1v and now dropped to about 11v (engine running?after 5 more laps and 15 more water baths and a trip home. I've cleaned the terminals as best as possible from above and given the alternator a good soak with WD40, cleaned the little sticks and cr&p out the holes to reveal a clean copper winding! Belts are running as is the alternator I think.
Apart from the usual, check the terminals extra closely (belly pan removed etc) and clean it from below, any other checks/tests I can do before ripping it out and putting a new one in?
Secondly, possibly I think linked to the above, unless anyone knows differently, but since my muddy play time I can't get above 45mph. Only noticed it on the way home but the power drops right off and starts to fall when about 2500rpm. Naturally I'll fix the above before I get really worried and I'm going to check my airbox and filter because it may of got a bit soggy, but again any simple suggestions before I over complicate it will be good.
Thanks a lot
