Evening all hope im in the right section lol, ive always been a 200/300tdi man done the usual lift big wheels etc but never really use it as an off roader ie pay n play, so im now looking at buying a 3.9 auto for running anout and towing my caravan etc maybe sling some ats on it etc

The 3.9 auto I drove was excellent, almost RRC like in its driving responses, and I suspect suits the engine better than a manual box

Mainly the fuel bill over a diesel although this already lgp converted plus this will be my first auto so couple of unknowns really bud

If you can afford the the fuel bill of petrol engine why are u bothering..? go for diesel.

In the D1s & 2s only petrol engines suit the 4 speed auto box, hence now the modern day diesel vehicles have a few more ratios and also a lot now have the auto/manual selection with the paddles, something which my recently departed V8 saloon had, and which I used the all the time on the open road.

And then I return to my V8 D1 and just let it do its own thing, when and as needed, and still on the outside lane:D
Simples as that.

I have a 3.9 v8i petrol (automatic) and the fuel consumption is shocking :D

It is a really nice drive though, surprisingly smooth, and it sounds great too!!

If it wasn't such a thirsty beast I wouldn't be getting rid of mine :(
