Hi chaps. How hard is it to change the bearing on an alternator? Mine's started to sing to me a bit. DIY job? Any specs for the bearing that I must match or can I just get one the same size and bung it in? Tips welcome!

Actually while I'm at it, there's the faintest of rattles from the belt tensioner. Can I fix or must I replace?

its not that simple, BoB - there are other parameters, such as speed rating and type (roller/ball/etc) - hence best advice is to take the bearing to a supplier - they can get an exact equivalent then.

cheers all. ssmn, sadly i reckon you're right. will just live with the tensioner for a bit as i've a few other bits and bobs i need so i'm going to order it all in one shot. but will give changing the bearing a go, what the heck! :)
